I'm not an expert at this, but I did manage to create a shader for now... ..lmk if you have any problems with it.

since I wasn't real sure how to create the shader file, at first I posted the .tga cubefiles, but I have it figured out now (thanks cakeller),

(I should get better at this as I go rolleyes.gif )

Looks nice... I've been working on a collection of new shaders too! wink.gif can't wait to share them.

this has a nice oily metallic look to it... an alien metal, or something.

Nice start, keep it up wink.gif

EDIT:

fyi, each folder under

3D-Coat-V3\Shaders\Custom

is essentially a shader... just zip the new folder you created when you RMB create new shader, on whatever shader you start from.

3DC checks each time for any new folders and the name of the new shader is the name of that folder.

so making new shaders is pretty straight forward.

As a suggestion, maybe use a few letter prefix, like MH_shader-name... MH_PurpleMetal, or whatever.

that way it's easy for those getting your shaders to use them. ;)

anyway... again, good to see people working on shaders!

Cheers

this is 'Freddy The Teddy', and is a WIP, but I also wanted to post him as a sample for the shader I'm working on...it's a 'hair/fur' shader, may possibly be used for grass,etc.also....it can still use some tweaking, but I thought I'd post it, in case any of you are interested in trying it,....I also made a vid that I'll post here ...it's a little fuzzy, but maybe you'll be able to see some of the effects of this shader...this shader may be useful for hairy/furry animals or for creating hair for humans, if the hair were to be built on a seperate layer from the model....but check it out if you get a chance n lmk what you think.smile.gif

and would also love to hear from you if you decide to use this shader in any of your projects.

here's the zip ;

the color settings are ' 121-90-71 ' but you can reset the setting to your own preferences.
