philnolan3d
You are correct it does seem to be missing, I've never used it before so never noticed it was gone.

Advanced Member polyxo Posted January 13, 2011 Advanced Member Report Share Posted January 13, 2011 Hervé, are you sure that you are editing in PerPixelPainting? ShowDisplacedMesh is only available in that Mode and still visible on my machine.
philnolan3d
That makes sense. I wasn't even using the paint room when I checked, I was sculpting and just clicked the paint tab to look. When I load a PPP model I see it as well.
Advanced Member herve_bis Posted January 14, 2011 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted January 14, 2011 hello... thanks for your input... well, am I missing something...? I did a voxel sculpt... retopo it... meged it to paint room using Ptex.. but it's gone from my menu... the weird thing is that IF I just use the cube default in the paint room.. I can see it is back... so I have no idea why is that...? Hervé
Advanced Member herve_bis Posted January 16, 2011 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted January 16, 2011 hello... nobody knows why...? is it a bug...?
philnolan3d
We just said why, it only works in Per Pixel mode. The cube you clicked was probably a Per Pixel cube.
Andrew Shpagin
Show displaced mesh works in PPP only. In MV/PTEX it is activated always. Use Adjust subpatching to adjust visible level of details.

Advanced Member herve_bis Posted January 17, 2011 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted January 17, 2011 .. oups... btw, if you look at the above shot I posted, you can see I am in PPP.. so this is why I don't get it... I have never ever had problems before... what could have happend..
philnolan3d
The paint room has 3 modes, Per Pixel Painting (PPP), Microvertex, and Ptex. MV and PTex work basically the same way except PTex doesn't need a UV map. PPP does not displace the mesh and is generally good for game models, MV does displace it and might be better for animation like film or TV. For a full description see page 19 of the manual. .. oups... btw, if you look at the above shot I posted, you can see I am in PPP.. so this is why I don't get it... I have never ever had problems before... what could have happend.. I just looked at the image again, I don't see anything that shows me it's in one paint more or another.
