3D-Brush renamed to 3D-Coat. Version 2.07 released!

Here comes the first news: 3D-Bush has got new name - 3D-Coat. We decided to go for a more distinctive and unique name of the program, while preserving the descriptive nature in its title. Coat means "to cover something with a layer of a particular substance" so it well fits what 3D-Brush does. The short name is therefore 3DC.

Another good news is that 3D-Coat v.2.07 is now released! Of cause, all users who have purchased 3D-Brush will get 3D-Coat without any additional payment and without the serial number change.


2.07 has been a very big chunk of work accomplished. Here follows the list of improvements done:

1) Now 3DC can use up to 4 GB of virtual memory on 64-bit Windows and up to 3GB on 32-bit Windows (if option /3gb is available in boot.ini). It allows you to increase detailing of an object of up to 20 million of polys.

2) 3DC got considerably optimised, now it works much faster.

3) 3DC uses multi-core processors for most operations - painting, subdivision, texture baking, occlusion calculation.

4) Interface was changed drastically. The entire menu was reorganised to simplify the workflow and make it more intuitive.

5) Many new layer adjustments have been done




6) All of them have realtime previews and ability to apply not only to current layer but also to all the layers.




7) Ability to hide/show/lock/rename materials and sub-objects




8) Navigation controls for grids. You can snap to rotated grids and rotate grids with constraints (SHIFT)




9) Pen falloff is done. You can select "Focal shift" or "Falloff" as preferred control in options.




10) Conditions preview menu. You can toggle color and B/W preview









11) You can export/import one layer or all layers into a PSD file with padding.




12) Now you can erase with curves




13) ... freeze with curves




14) ... Planarize with curve




15) ... paint absolute height - compare with common painting (second picture)









16) The default interface is light, but you can switch to dark style immediately after loading




17) All lines are antialiased




18) Pen opacity preview is recovered




19) Freeze/select has become much more powerful and should work much faster




20) Hints style is changed to be closer to cursor.

21) Painting in mixing colors mode was improved.

22) Multilingual installation.

23) Many new interface presets, you can fully customize the interface colors.

24) New user manual

25) Baking process can be stopped by ESC key.

26) Occlusion calculation can be stopped any time and the result of calculation can be applied even if you have not calculated AO until the end.
