1. Review your task

In this tutorial we will create a helmet which reminds the helmet of Dwarf Gimli from the «Lord of the rings» movie. In the end you will get something like this:

It took the author approximatly one week to complete this model.

2. Import obj file

1. Select File->Import Model(obj,lwo,fbx)

2. Browse for the helmet.obj file using the following path: open boot drive\Program Files\3D-Coat-2\Samples\helmet.obj

3. Then you will see «Loading an object» dialog box:

Set «Millions of poligons» - 4.00, Texture width and Texture height to 2048, check checkbox «Auto smoothing groups» and leave value Max. Angle by default — 30. All other parameters leave by default. Press Ok.

After this you will get the helmet model in your working space:

4. Select File->Save

5. Name the file helmet_01 and save the file somewhere on your hard disk.

NOTE As you go through this tutorial, remember to save your work frequently.
